What were Thee Moths? Who were Thee Moths?

Glytchvölk Musique Concrète

Thee Moths were sometimes several, often one. Since forming in 2000 the band expanded and contracted as needs dictated. At the end Thee Moths was mostly Alex Botten and whoever he asked to help. The music was just as fractured as the line-up, with recordings and shows going from laptop glitching to acoustic folk as the mood takes.

Over the years Thee Moths played shows with many people including The Microphones/Mount Eerie, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, Y.A.C.H.T., Thomas Truax, Chris TT, Lucky Dragons, Thanksgiving, Bobby Birdman, Germlin, Flying Matchstick Men, Ghost Mice, Born Heller, Luxury Car, Misty's Big Adventure, Usurper, The Legend!, Dennis Driscoll, Metronomy, Gay Against You, BBBlood, Waltzers Arm and many many more.

These people have all been extra members of Thee Moths: Gav (drummer for first two shows), Kat (bassist for first two shows), Hilary (guitarist on first recordings), James (guitarist on first recordings), Ronnie Wallace (bassist on first recordings), Dominique Ferraton (singing, guitar, bass, violin...lot's of other stuff for a really long time), Angi (drums at Littlest Album launch), Duncan Roberston (bass at Littlest Album launch), Ant (drums during the summer 2002 shows), Peter Moug (guitar at the Kill Your Timid Notion Fringe), Neil McIntee (guitar at the Kill Your Timid Notion Fringe), Mike Lennie (bass and vocals), Kirstin White (vocals, clapping), Ross Trundlewheel (Trombone), Pete Liddle (Trumpet), Krissy Tower, Joe Merchant (drums), Kaye Brewster (vocals and violin), Christianne Ormston (vocals), Joe Howe (vocals, mixing and a load of other stuff on 'Beau Chien'), Milly Barnard, Zeph Owsley, Gaz Owsley, Adam Hits The Atmosphere (plus two of his friends), Adrian Orange, Meghan Crotty, Craig Pulsar, Emily Roff, Andy Bonar, Gerard Black, Michael Lambert, the audience at the 'Farewell Dundee' show, Erin Day, Ade Bordicott, Paul McGazz.
